My Home Bakery – Eat More Cake!

My Home Bakery is wonderful. I’ve been here twice now and only stay away to try and preserve onto my waistline!

The bakery is on Hyndland Street around the border of Partick and Hyndland and has recently celebrated their 2nd birthday. It’s simple they do great coffee and great baked goods and offer this simple mantra.

They have a few seats inside and the first time I visited we were having some unseasonal Spring sunshine, so sitting inside looking out was ideal. They bake an incredible selection of cakes, pies and bread and one of my particular favourites is the chicken and bacon Farmers’ Breakfast. I could describe some of the other delights, but I think I’ll let the pictures do the talking. (They also do cakes to order, so if you have a special occasion coming up, give them a shout.

Devil’s Deli – a lovely new cafe

This is a great new addition to Partick, a small cafe doing coffee from Glasgow’s own Dear Green Coffee Roasters and a nice variation of breakfasts and lunches.

Sadly I went in on a rather grim rainy morning so photos wouldn’t have done it justice, so I’ll let you take a peep at the menu instead.

Devil's Deli Menu

I had a cappuccino (only £2, which is a bit less than the West End average) and a roll and links sausage. I was rather excited to find they did links sausage as well as square. The variety of filling for breakfast rolls includes all the usual fare, plus a few extras and next time I think I might try egg, tomato and avocado.

The lunch menu looks good, they smoke all their own meat and will provide a vegetarian version of each sandwich.

When I go back (which I’m keen to) I’ll get some better images, but for now have a look at this wee drawing made in the cafe by the very talented Wil Freeborn.
